Whipping Cream Frosting
frosting buttercream sweet
Whipping cream frosting is a light, airy, and mildly sweet topping made by beating heavy cream until it forms soft or stiff peaks. It's perfect for cakes, cupcakes, and fruit desserts where a delicate, not-too-sweet finish is desired. Often flavored with vanilla or sugar, it offers a fresh, creamy texture and must be kept chilled to maintain its shape.
Ingredients
- Liquid whipping cream / heavy whipping cream – 1 cup
- Icing sugar / powdered sugar – 1/2 cup (adjust to taste; 2–3 tablespoons for less sweetness)
- Milk powder – 1 tablespoon (optional)
Stabilizer Options (per 1 cup whipping cream):
- Clear piping gel – 2 tablespoons
- Jell-O pudding mix – 1 tablespoon + 1/2 teaspoon
- Cream cheese – 1/4 cup
- Mascarpone cheese – 3 oz
- Halal gelatin powder or agar-agar powder – 1 teaspoon
Note: Clear piping gel and pudding mix can be added directly. Agar-agar or gelatin powder must be bloomed in cold water for 5 minutes, then microwaved for about 5 seconds until fully dissolved and liquid before using.
Procedure
- Chill your mixing bowl in the freezer for a few minutes.
- Pour very cold whipping cream into the chilled bowl. Start whipping using an electric beater.
- Gradually add powdered sugar and continue whipping until slightly thickened.
- Add your desired flavoring, coloring, and chosen stabilizer.
- Whip again until stiff peaks form.
- Keep refrigerated until ready to use.
Stabilizer Effectiveness (Best to Moderate)
